How To Organize Dissertation Citations In The APA Format

In order to make the most of the grades that are based on the academic paper you submit, it is advisable to make the most of the dissertation that you submit. But what do you do when the dissertation is in the APA format? Even if you do the entire paper diligently, there are chances you may flounder over the citations of the paper.

The citations in APA format must be conducted diligently so that proper credit is given to creators of those works which you have used in your study. It is a given that the citations carry a significant measure of marks in APA format. Here are some tips that will help you understand the nature of citations better.

Header space

The header space is the space between the top of the paper header and the margin of the paper. In the APA format, when you make citations, be sure to leave a half-inch header space. In most papers, this should happen automatically.

“References” space

The place where you mention the word “references” in bold should be a further half-inch below the header. In effect, it should be an inch below the margin of the paper. You may have to make sure of this manually.

Author Credentials entry

One of the major challenges with the academic work in APA format, is the place where you mention the name of the author and their works from which you have quoted. The surname should come first, followed by a comma, followed by the initials of the name and then the year of publishing should come inside brackets. Then, you should add the name of the book followed by a colon and the page number.

Example:

Attenborough, M.C. (2011). Vet in the Make: Why should you choose her not me, 178(3), 88-93

Author Margin

The author margin is the space that is left from the left margin of the page up to the name of the author. This space should ideally be one-inch wide. This is applicable for both the left and right margins of the page.

In an event where the name of the book or the overall citation is not complete even after using the full permitted lines, you may carry forward with the citation in the next line. If you check this website, you will see how in the next line the margin is 1.5 inches wide.

Apart from these, you should take note that there shall be double spacing between all the lines in the reference page.
